As good a car as they may be, I’m not generally a fan of the 5th-Gen Camaro’s slightly porky, edgy-for-edgy’s-sake styling (sorry Yamahog!). But, my opinion may have been formed by the fact that I seem to only see them in SS form (or otherwise optioned-up). I saw a base model today in black with the steel wheels, and thought it looked much better balanced than a full-frippery SS, as if the car was designed to look best sans body kit and big wheels all along. This has changed my perception, and it’s refreshing to see what’s generally regarded as an “image” car with unadorned, stamped steed wheels. Good move, Chevy. It’d be cool to see a new Mustang or Challenger similarly shod.

The smaller wheels with more sidewall look so much better.

It just looks so much more natural to have meaty tires on a muscle car.

I’m pretty sure you could get those wheels on an SS as well.
On the subject of steelies, though, I saw a new Silverado yesterday. Blue. Base model steel rims with the circular holes, painted the same blue as the truck. It looked amazing.

Really? I’d be surprised if they’d clear the brakes, but that’d be killer. The new Silveraydo isn’t a bad looking rig, either.

It does. And the staggered stance exaggerates the effect.

I could be wrong, but I wa under the impression it was an optional wheel, not a base one. Throwback to vintage Camaros.

I’m in the minority but those wheels are terrible

A friend of mine tried to not get the 20 inch wheels on his SS t the dealer. Specifically, those steel wheels or any 17 / 18 inch wheel. It was not possible for SS trim

I really like the steelies as well on the new Camaro. I like steelies in general, especially on that car.

Yeah, I’ve always liked these. I had a neighbor who had one. Always made me smile.

Fair enough. Not the greatest steelie ever, perhaps, but I like them.

Huh, that's what I figured would probably be the case.

I would base model the hell out of an R8.

Thats my favorite too

Nope, SS has the aluminum 20s. But I think the 18” steels may clear the Brembos. Those calipers are a popular swap for 4th gens. 18” wheels are needed to clear.

I bought my steelies for winter weather(2010 RS) and paid $125 for 4. I have one in the trunk for a spare in the summer.

A neighbor just picked up a used v6 base. I do have to agree the steelies look nice.
